Rosie Waterland has never been cool. Growing up in housing commission, Rosie was cursed with a near perfect, beautiful older sister who dressed like Mariah Carey on a Best & Less budget while Rosie was still struggling with various toilet mishaps. But that was only one of the problems Rosie faced. With two addicts for parents, she grew up amidst rehab stays, AA meetings, overdoses, narrow escapes from drug dealers and a merry-go-round of dodgy boyfriends in her mother's life. Rosie watched as her dad passed out/was arrested/vomited, and had to talk her mum out of killing herself.

As an adult, trying to come to grips with her less than conventional childhood, Rosie navigated her way through eating disorders, nude acting roles, mental health issues and awkward Tinder dates. Then she had an epiphany: to stop pretending to be who she wasn't and embrace her true self - a girl who loved drinking wine in her underpants on Sunday nights - and become an Anti-Cool Girl.

    I dont read very many books as i lose interest VERY quickly. I have not finished a book in over 10 years!! The Anti Cool girl had me totally captivated, i finished it in a day. I didnt want it to end. I was laughing my head off one minute and crying my eyes out the next. Such a beautiful but heartbreaking story. Rosie you are amazing, so strong and so talented. You will love this book!!

    I couldn't put this down. Rosie's honesty is just breathtaking, and her frank acceptance and witty take on a pretty awful string of events she has survived is awe inspiring. Rosie's honestly around her mental health struggles is a breath of fresh air. Read this book.

    An amazing, sometimes sad, sometimes hilarious journey to self acceptance! If you haven't yet read this book, I urge you too. The writer takes you on a journey of her life and her quest for self acceptance. Would be a great book for any teenage girls feeling like they don't belong!

    I couldn't put this book down. I read it on the train to and from work. I'm pretty sure people thought I was a little crazy laughing hysterically and balling my eyes out, sometimes in the same train ride. I grew up in Sydney. Rosie- I also have the urge to cause pain to Northshore private school goers. Especially those who turn up the collars their hot pink pink Ralph Lauren polo shirts. Thanks for putting in words that it's ok not to be cool. I'm not cool. Never have been, never will be. And that's absolutely fine with me.

    Rosie! this book is amazing. I ended up pulling an all nighter reading this book (I couldnt put it down) and managed to make it through the next day at work. I could relate with you in alot of ways, especially the dream of being the worlds gratest actress- i spent many hours as a kid practising my acceptance speech and daydreaming of the hollywood life, and begging my mum on the daily to get me onto neighbours and home and away. Some parts that should be serious are hillariously written, and kind of make you feel bad for laughing. this is the best book i have read in a very long time. i cant wait for the next one.
