    Perfect for any interested in this particular era, and like myself, the Royal Navy (you'll most likely find it interesting if you're a fan of the Aubrey/Marturin series). Cook is an exciting and insightful read revealing much about (in my humble opinion) the greatest explorer of all time as well as his voyages and methods. This book breaks away from the usual mind numbing biography; instead of just retelling the events from a distance as most do, this book (a it says) really does put you on Cook's quarterdeck, helping you to better understand not only what's happening but how the captain and crew are feeling in really trying or triumphal moments. It has really helped me to develop a respect and even liking for this incredible explorer.
