    I am hoping the following books are better than this one. It took me 3/4 of the book to appreciate it because is was very slow to get into but because of the cliffhanger I will have to at least read the next one. I hoped her other series are more adult reading.

    Where do I even begin with this story. It was spectacular. I know it will be a book I think about for a long time. A story of characters who meet by chance, share unforgettable experiences and change the course of each other's lives. I couldn’t shake the feeling that even though I’d met Manning first, for some reason Tiffany thought he belonged to her. The innocent coming of age story that Lake's character goes through really resonated with me. Her internal dialogue was so beautifully written my chest hurt for most of the book. I had to regularly close it and just think on her words. Her naivety and awakening sexuality reminded me of the purest of teenage emotions. He ran a thumb over the head of the stuffed toy, his knuckles brushing the neckline of my shirt, the top curve of my breast. He didn’t seem to notice, but I shivered. “You cold, Birdy?” The chapters told from Manning's POV were perfect in ensuring the reader was able to understand the dilemma he faced and how truly good he was. His role in the story is a complex one and my feelings about him fluctuated throughout the book. There were moments I wanted to hug him and moments I wanted to shake him. “I’m saying what I feel for her comes from an innocent place. I would never hurt her. If anything, I wanted . . . I want to protect her. To keep her pure.” Tiffany is a character that many will not like - there were times I wanted to punch her in the face, but there were also moments when I felt compassion for her. Feeling second best is never nice. “I’ll take you home after this,” I said. “Wouldn’t want your dad to worry.” “He wouldn’t,” she said softly, looking up at the sky. “Not about me.” I got the feeling this was the real Tiffany. I don't want to say too much so that I don't give away the plot but be prepared for plenty of pure teenage angst, innocent first loves and an ending that will leave you wanting to throw your book/Kindle across the room. I cannot wait for book two. I was lucky enough to win a copy of this book ❤
